In the case of adults, the behavior differs considerably from that of juveniles. Adults remained close to the coast during the night and away from shore during the day making a few shore excursions in front of different seal colonies.

Adults performed several deep dives during the day probably searching for prey.

Fig. 3:

The diving pattern performed by the sharks could be related to the search of fish and seals on the bottom. This behavior could be restricted to day light since there is evidence for diurnal vision in this species.

Fig. 4:

The maximum elevation of adult stomach temperature above ambient temperature could be recorded for this study and it was about 17 °C. A difference existed in the diurnal pattern among the age classes possibly because of varying thermoregulatory capabilities.
