VERTICAL MOVEMENTS
The maximum dive depth recorded was 272 m, although the majority of time was spent in the top 50 m that the shallowest depths occurred during the transitional months (May-July) from spring to summer when the depth of the thermocline is usually shallowest (Fig. 6) . The deepest dives were performed late summer to late fall months (September-December) when the depth of the thermocline is deepest (Fig. 1). A relationship with the vertical structure of the Gulf is clearly evident in a similar fashion as we have observed in other places such as Malpelo and the Galapagos.
